Carine's back!

Back in action! Carine sat out the last ready to wear FW at Paris in order not to confuse people. Now, however, she's full fledged back! This time, however, she's a simple, ordinary client (Yeah, right), who happens to get fitted by Donatella and Jean Paul Gaultier (among others), just like everyone else... So, in collaboration with W magazine, she documented this process in a short film, entitled The Client. It's a lot of fun!!! You can watch it HERE. You should!

The Paris Fashion Week thickens

3 minutes here, 2 minutes there... and little by little, another post comes together! Exams be damned!

Strong start of the post: Dior. Pretty and boring. That's how I would put it. And some looks are just, well, Valentino-ish. And Valentino 2 seasons ago! Other than that. a lot of back to Dior basics.

And now, Valentino. Oh no wait, still Dior...

Oh well, on a much brighter note, Lanvin. That Alber Elbaz, he can do no wrong! Really!! The last batch of dresses. Oh those dresses. I couldn't pick one!

Viktor & Rolf, with a collection that has been called "subdued", but that I would call "subdued for them". The pop duo Brigitte sang while this collection of ribbons and puffs walked their way down the runway. I really like the second dress, I must say. And, while not as spectacular as some of their latest work, still pretty good.

A very Jean Paul Gaultier collection this season. A nice mix of trench coats, sex and tattoos, with just a touch of S&M. Good one JP!

Look who's designing now? Well, none other than Kanye West! And, believe it or not, his clothes are not half bad! I leave you with a couple of looks for your appraisal.

Paris Haute Couture FW 2011 (Day3)

All good things must come to an end... First of the day: Valentino. A very cold collection. But in a good way: elegant and sophisticated. But, in my opinion, unremarkable. This is a double edged sword: it wasn't a complete disaster and if I see someone wearing it, I'll know it's Valentino, but it doesn't move forward. It feels, like almost all do lately, like yet another Valentino show.








Elie Saab was very beautiful. He always delivers the most red carpet potential of the lot. And I particularly enjoyed the transition of color: from blue, so light it's almost white, passing trough nude and various shades of gray, ending in gowns of midnight blue. Beautiful but I think I prefer the Spring Summer collection. Again, this is a matter of absolute personal taste.









Finally, last of the season: Jean Paul Gaultier. His collections always seem to be so all over the place but at the same time so focused. And we could not have him any other way, to tell the truth. Some 50's silhouettes particularly caught my eye. And I love the purple gloves in the last look. Here are my favorite looks of the collection.











And, sadly, that's it. Haute Couture's 3 days are up and we will have to wait until September to revisit Paris for more fresh fashion. In the meantime, don't fret, we have plenty to look at! Next post: Royal Wedding!
